Explanation about the visa for Oman
Do I need a visa for Oman? If you want to travel to Oman with a passport that was issued by a European country (including the United Kingdom and Ireland), you need a visa. In 2018, the application procedure was revised in its entirety, and since then it is no longer possible to acquire a “visa on arrival”. To replace it, a new e-visa was introduced, which has to be applied for before departure. Because of this, tourist travellers will no longer need to visit the Oman embassy.
What is an Oman e-visa? The Oman e-visa is a digital PDF document, which is sent to you by email after approval. It needs to be printed, and on arrival in Oman it along with the passport have to be handed over. The information in the passport and on the visa have to fully match. Make sure you travel with the passport that was used when filling in the application form.
Requirements and validity duration of the e-visa
Check before applying if your passport and your travel plans meet the requirements and the maximum validity term of the Oman visa.
What requirements do I have to keep in mind?
- The Oman e-visa is only fit for tourist trips
- The passport has to be valid for at least 6 more months on arrival
- The passport cannot contain any Israeli stamps when you arrive
- On arrival, you must be able to show that a hotel and a departure ticket have already been booked
How long is the Oman visa valid for?
In the application form, you can choose between three possible variants of the tourist visa, each with different validity restrictions. The possibilities are:
- A single stay of a maximum of 10 days (single entry)
- A single stay of a maximum of 30 days (single entry)
- Multiple trips within one year, maximum 30 days per stay (multiple entry)
Changing the travel plans
- Can I change my travel plans after applying for the visa? Above, you can read that on arrival, a hotel and a ticket for the return or transit flight need to have been booked already. You can be asked for this at the passport check at the airport in Oman. However, it is not necessary to have established these things at the moment the visa is applied for. Even the date of arrival can be expedited or delayed without problems after the visa is issued, up to a maximum of 10 days before or after the date filled in on the application form. With a multiple entry visa, the travel plans can even be changed an unlimited number of times, as long as each date of arrival falls within the one year validity term from the moment of issuing.
Costs and delivery times of the e-visa
What does the electronic visa for Oman cost? The cost of the Oman tourist visa depends on the chosen variant. The differences lie in the maximum length of stay per trip, and the number of trips with a single visa. The single entry variant for a stay of a maximum of 10 days costs £44.95. The single entry variant for 30 days costs £84.95 and the multiple entry variant costs £154.95. These are total prices, including all consular costs, service costs and taxes. Paying can be safely and easily done without transaction costs through Visa, MasterCard, American Express or PayPal.
How quickly is the visa delivered? The normal delivery time of the Oman visa is on average one week, regardless of the chosen variant. In case of urgency, the option “urgent delivery” can be checked in the application form. The delivery time is then on average 4 days. For urgent processing, a surcharge of £17.50 per person applies. Due to the chance of random background checks, no guarantee whatsoever can be given regarding delivery times. This also applies to urgent applications.
Applying for a tourist e-visa for Oman
How can I apply for the visa for my holiday to Oman? Applying for the Oman visa can be done entirely online and only takes a few minutes. To do this, you first open the application form. In it, you fill in your contact and travel information, as well as the information of each traveller for whom you wish to submit an application. After paying the costs, each traveller is asked to upload a passport scan and a passport photo. If you do not have them at hand, you can also do that later. Once all of the information and documents have been provided, the application is processed.
